Joan’s Field
Joan’s Field is a designated conservation area along Hardwick Bank Road managed by Northway Parish Council. Its main function is to preserve grassland and natural habitat, while also providing a space for local residents to enjoy.
While much of the field remains in a more natural state, the central area is regularly mown to allow for recreation and informal use by the community. A community apple orchard and wildflower areas have been established through collaboration with groups like the Friends of Joan’s Field and volunteers coordinated by the Parish Council.
Accessibility works completed in December 2022 included a wooden bridge and footpath to improve access into the field.
The site is regularly inspected, including checks for invasive plants like Giant Hogweed, which has previously been found on site.
The Council is currently investigating possible improvements to the field.
